We are actively rebuilding Y-DNA research for the Osborne / Osborn / Osburn surname, with a special focus on the Appalachian and New River lines.
Because advanced testing can be expensive, sponsored tests are reviewed carefully before selection. The goal is not to test every person with the surname, but to identify the paternal lines most likely to help clarify the deeper Osborne story.
You may be a strong candidate if:
Y-DNA follows the direct paternal line from father to son. It can help determine whether a tester belongs to an established Osborne genetic cluster, whether a line branches differently than expected, or whether a traditional paper-tree connection needs to be reconsidered.
In some cases, a lower-cost Y-111 test may be used first. If the results are especially informative, an upgrade to Big Y may be considered later.
To be considered for sponsored testing, please include:
Every carefully selected test helps us separate tradition from evidence. Matching results can connect branches. Non-matching results can rule out incorrect assumptions. Both are valuable.
Our purpose is simple: rebuild the Osborne story with better evidence, better structure, and respect for the families behind the names.
Contact us with your paternal-line information and we’ll review whether your line may help move the project forward.
